    VILLAGE AMENITIESUllapool has several excellent hotels, pubs and restaurants, at which seafood is a speciality.  The Post Office, telephone kiosk, newsagents, grocers, butchers and greengrocers are within two minutes walk of Panama Cottage.  The local pottery, climbing/outdoor and knitwear stores, garages and petrol station are nearby.
    Ullapool is an active fishing village, shellfish, mackerel and herring are fished within their season.  It is also the ferry terminal for the Outer Isles, with daily sailings to Stornoway.  Boat trips are available daily in the Summer to the picturesque Summer Isles.
    Evening entertainment is provided at many of the local hotels and there is an active local folk club and pipe band.  Lochbroom FM, the UK’s smallest Local Radio Station serves the area, Ullapool has interesting award winning local Museum which focuses on  local history.

    SPORTING FACILITIES/ACTIVITIES Sea, river and loch fishing, small boat hire and organised sea fishing trips are available.  The sheltered waters of Loch Broom provide good sailing, canoeing and wind surfing.  Hill walkers and mountaineers will appreciate such peaks as StackPolly, An Teallach, Ben Dearg and Ben Eighe.

    Naturalists enjoy the wild terrain, seal and bird colonies.
    Children will enjoy the shingle shores of Loch Broom and the clean unspoilt sandy beaches are easily reached at Achnahaird, Reiff, Gruinard and Gairloch.
    Ullapool’s Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool provide facilities for all age groups, and children’s Activities during school holidays.  Ullapool Golf Course, a completely new course, opened in 1999, visitors are welcome.
